"ARTIFICIAL TRAFFIC JAM" After we had spent the beginning of the summer to research and construct flexible and adapted models to overpass the 660 feet of public dirt road on our land, by mid- August it became clear that we had to rethink our initial approach towards the traffic situation. Instead of bridging the problem we also could use the purpose of the road to eliminate it’s function. We could stop traffic by creating traffic. Therefore, on August 27th, 2004 15 cars with about 20 people from Montello traveled to our land and created an artificial traffic jam.

explaining the artificial traffic jam to it's creators

After a lot of honking and waiting and yelling and waiting in the traffic jam, after one car overheated and was shortly on fire, after another car had caught a rabbit in it's gear, everybody became hungry and we had a BBQ.

When the BBQ was finished everybody went home. One of the two cars that had broken down stayed right in the middle of the road possibly creating a more permanent road block for the future.
