Obscurum per Obscurius, Ignotum per Ignotius

We had this idea to replace business cards with business pencils, hoping it would create a more interactive, participatory experience for people interested in our work. We thought it was a brilliant idea! Unfortunately, the execution didn’t quite work out. The gold lettering on the rich royal blue pencils rubbed off very easily—after a week in a bag or just a couple minutes in a sweaty hand, the text would fade. Initially, we were disappointed, but over time, we started to appreciate the pencils’ insistence on impermanence. It seemed to speak to concepts of ephemerality. Still, as far as the “business” side of our practice went, it wasn’t exactly effective.
