We had visited Pui Yan earlier in the week and performed the dance of the White Bone Spirit in her dressing room in order to get feedback on the movements and gestures and find out how the performance could be improved. Later Pui Yan invited us to see her show.

Fung Cheung Hung Troupe’s production of the familiar classic The Legend of Mulan blends traditional Confucian concepts with contemporary dramatic elements. Opening with a war between good and evil that is resolved by Mulan’s love for her country, the story conveys an important message of world peace. The show mixed traditional Cantonese Opera techniques with immersive video-projections and special tech-effects.
