We visited the Li Tien-Lu Museum, which opened on 31 December 1996, two years before the death of its namesake, the puppeteer Li Tien-lu. Within its collections are items used by Li during his career. The museum houses more than 200 antique puppet heads, many more than 100 years old.
Adjacent to the Museum is a small performance space that permanently features a glove puppet stage on which the I Wan Jan Troupe uses for performances.
We visited the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei and spent some time to learn the names of the musical instruments that are often used to accompany a puppet show. Besides the music samples we played by pressing big buttons the museum was very quiet and devoid of people.
