ONE WAY TICKET TO NOWHERE
by Tom Vanderbilt

TERMINAL. The world is cloaked in sober finality, and as a modifier it signposts an irreversible end. Now think of the phrase airport terminal. Strictly speaking the phrase makes sense - an airport terminal is where our journeys end. And yet, isn't it also where they begin? Increasingly, the terminal is not an end, but a way station. Which raises the question: when is the terminal ultimately…terminal?

INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MONTELLO: A TRAVELOGUE (PART TWO)
by JASON DEAN

September 14th: I woke up in the middle of the night after some last minute work on the t-shirts and hats I was working on for the gift shop at the airport. I was leaving a huge mess of sewing and ironing behind. I went downstairs to get in a car service to the airport, it was way too early to deal with the long subway ride and I didn't want to miss the flight, as appropriate as that seemed.

At 11:45 a.m., I already had one foot over the threshold of the Cowboy Bar in Montello, when, by raw coincidence, a white van with Utah plates pulled into the lot. I’d hoped to glean from the bartender if there really was such a thing as International Airport Montello, but the fortuitously timed arrival of an airport shuttle van answered my question.

Project Runway - 9/22/06 - by Michael Wang
Wearing a modish flight-attendant uniform, Art in General programs manager Sofia Hernández Chong Cuy distributed packaged toiletries, an “airport map,” and vouchers for food, coffee, and shuttle rides to a group of seven arts patrons, curators, and writers packed inside the chartered plane headed for Las Vegas—by way of Montello, a small town in northeast Nevada.

eteam CAUSES EXTENDED LAYOVER at IAM
International Airport Montello ::
On Friday, September 15, 2006, an 8-passenger Beechjet 400 of AiG Airlines was on its way to Las Vegas for a weekend of art and gambling, when the pilots received a radio call about a sand storm in Nevada causing an unexpected 8-hour layover at the International Airport Montello (IAM). read more here

INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MONTELLO: A TRAVELOGUE (PART ONE) by JASON DEAN\
August 14th:
I just got an email from Art In General with the subject 'International Airport Montello Layover Support Position Available'. Having gone to the lecture at Sara Meltzer Gallery, and looking at the Airport website at all of the different jobs people from Montello were 'working', I just assumed they were looking for another security guard or baggage handler for the airport, and that a new position had opened up at the airport itself, in Montello and I entertained the idea for a second, trying to figure out how it could work in NYC.

ETEAM: MONTELLO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, MONTELLO, NV
Recently I went to the Art in General artist talk at Sara Meltzer Gallery of Eteam's project “Montello International Airport.” I had briefly looked at Eteam's website before I went, and saw a photo from the project of the rolling stairs used for boarding aircraft, in the middle of the mountains with passengers waiting on it.
