Montello Crew,
As of today, the TSA is implementing new screening procedures,
please inform yourself
here.
This is a tough one. I think IAM needs to make exceptions here, and fully employ procedures like that, which will keep us 100% on the safe side.

Dear office of the Chaplain,
during a 2 hour layover today at Minneapolis International airport it again became clear to me. Exact layover times are not available - the layover still is, by definition and in reality, an unexpected break in your journey. Therefore exact times can not be given, they will be taken according to the current situation. But - after a change in initial plans again - so much can be confirmed: main focus day for the layover at International Airport Montello is Friday, September 15th, 2006. Please plan in an extra minute …
All we really know is that sometimes in the morning/noon of that day passengers will be arriving in a private jet.
They might come early and leave late. They might come late and leave early. They might be hungry. There might be other passengers there since days already…people who arrived on discounted propeller planes and who are not in a hurry to leave. No one really knows - but I have the feeling, the situation will be special, managable and fun.
In anticipation of the entertaining part of the upcoming layover, I tried a game with the baggage crew at Minneapolis International Airport today. The game is called: “How strong are you?” You can play it from the window-seat above the belt that feeds the bags to the plane's belly. Through the window, you have to get the attention of the luggage feeders by flexing your muscles. Then, when they join the game and start to flex their muscles, they have to get the attention of the guys inside the plane who receive the bags for further sorting. These guys will come out after a while, knock on the player's window and start flexing their muscles too. Whoever has the biggest muscles wins, but the actual goal of the game is to involve as many people as possible. From the luagge crew to the signal man, from the signal man to the pilot, from there to the control tower, etc. The whole airport should be flexing muscles, instead of sitting there patiently and watch how more and more National Army Guards are taking over with the show with machine guns…

Hi Montello Crew,
we are currently conducting interviews for one additional crew support member for Sept. 14-16. So far six interesting and enthusiastic people have applied. We did one interview yesterday and will do two more today. After that, we'll publish the applications on the website, in order to get your opinion on whom to choose. So please be ready to read and decide….

Dear Montello Crew,
it looks like many international passengers will use the IAM facilities in the week of Sept. 10-16. What will these people do at IAM? Waiting, drinking coffee, having supper under the stars, playing slots, trying to find the cell phone booth…? There are many activities possible, but I think, we should not forget SHOPPING at the IAM gift shop.
Therefore, I hope someone could ask the lady, who is selling cross-stitch Montello signs at the grocery store, if she could stitch some : International Airport Montello: frames. Also, may be Sarah could carve some more Lizzard key chains, and may be Little George could cut out some metal airplane shapes…
These are just some suggestions… there are probably many more people with many more ideas. I just think an IAM DUTY FREE GIFT SHOP with lot's of locally produced crafts items could be cool.
What do you think?
